healthy living

hiking in the canyon

i love my unconventional workouts.  fun jump is always a good time.  but i’ve been wanting to get outside more.  it’s getting warmer by the day, and i’m itching to get some fresh air and exercise in the great outdoors.

about fifteen miles from where i live, there’s a huge state park that includes a canyon.  it is just sitting there year round, and i forget about it all the time.  there’s lots of hiking/biking trails.  it’s truly beautiful.  i don’t get out there as much as i should.  but i’m determined to spend more time in the canyon.  it’s only $5 to get in for the day, which is right up my alley.  i went this past sunday with my cousin and her daughter.  we had a blast exploring the trails and wandering off the trails.  it was gorgeous outside – mid 60s.  that’s a good thing about living in texas.  you get random warm spells in january.  i can’t wait to get out there again.  next time, we’re going to plan for a six mile hike and a picnic.
