music mondays

i’d like to blame my lack of recent posts on being busy.  and i am busy.  school has been crazy to say the least and grad school takes up much more time than i thought. but it’s not that.  i just don’t have much to write about.  i haven’t been inspired by anything.  so i decided to start a new little series.  i love music so why not share a favorite song or album that is really inspiring me each week.  maybe it’ll spark some new inspiration too.  they most likely will be older or obscure indie songs.  it’s just what i like.  🙂

so my first pick is this song, “saint’s heart and a sinner’s skin” by sean mcconnell.

i’ve liked sean mcconnell for a long time, but i never looked into his older stuff for some reason until recently.  this song is so great.  the lyrics are all about screwing up again and again but still asking for forgiveness and working to do better.

Don’t quit listening yeah don’t give up on me yet’ No.

I got the best of intentions, but the worst follow through
Sometimes when the night falls, it can cover up the truth
And there’s no excuse, except for everyone I make
It goes on and on and on and on
I feel like I’m gonna break. I’m a

Chorus:
Saint’s heart in a sinner’s skin
I Feel them in there wrestling
I know the spirit and the devil’s touch
I just never know which one’s gonna win
Yeah I’m a saint’s heart in a sinner’s skin
Yeah I’m a saint’s heart in a sinner’s skin

Father forgive me, I know exactly what I do
And I keep doin it, right in front of you
Yeah, but I heard you’re patient
Yeah, well I sure hope that’s true
‘Cause it’s been a long, long, long time
Since I’ve been real with you, I’m a

Chorus x2
Yeah I’m a saint’s heart in a sinner’s skin
Yeah I’m a saint’s heart in a sinner’s skin
