if you’ve seen big little lies, you know the soundtrack is amazing. i downloaded this guy’s album over a year ago, but then big little lies came out, and it reintroduced me to leon bridges’ music. he’s so good. he makes me feel lots of things. (sidenote: if you haven’t seen big little lies, watch it.… Continue reading music mondays | 4•24
i’ve seen these guys live twice and if i have another chance, i’ll jump on it. uncle lucius makes you feel things. it’s his voice, the melody, the blues, the funk. i love it all.
troy cartwright is a new favorite of the past few months. his voice is just so pretty, and i really like his songwriting. check out an accoustic version of “fade away” above. he’s come to my town a couple times but i haven’t been able to catch him yet, but i will!
oh, randy. he’s a beautiful songwriter. i try to go see him whenever i can. this is one of his most recent songs, but it’s about a year old. i love everything about it.
i didn’t watch all of the grammy’s. only because my attention span is short these days. but this song (and the video) are just beautiful.
i’ll never not love miranda. her new album is different, but it reflects her at this time in her life. it’s honest, fun, heartbreaking, and real.
who knew this would work! when i saw them in august, the chicks played this song, but i never thought they would actually play it with beyonce! i’m all for crossovers and collaborations. i think it keeps things fresh. they sounded great, and i hope this is just the beginning of new dixie chicks music.… Continue reading music mondays | 11•7
i had the opportunity to see bart crow this past weekend. everyone knows him for “wear my ring” and now “dear music”, and i do love those songs. but these are my favorites from him…
this band is so fun! i saw them in concert a few months ago. i’d always loved “medicine man” and their van videos, but now i want to hear everything by them. this song is catchy but i like the video too! you can tell they have a good sense of humor.
every time this song comes on to the local texas country station, i have to listen. it just has that something. it’s part of a pet project from johnny cooper and justin ross called sidecar. i haven’t heard everything, but what i have, i’ve liked. so here is “ghost pusher” by sidecar…
this is one of my favorite texas country bands that i never see. this past weekend, i got to see them for the second (maybe third?) time. they put on such a fun show. their sound is different from other texas country. it has this strange irish bend to it while still being completely red… Continue reading music mondays | 9•19
this song has come on my pandora several times, and i love it each time. i still have a hard time going to church on the reg. i always enjoy it when i go. so i don’t know what it is. but music, kindness, nature, forgiveness…that’s where i feel God most of the time.
this week’s pick is a song i came across while watching showtime’s roadies. i don’t necessarily like all of this band’s music. it’s a little too out there for me. but i do love this song. the dual lead singers’ voices are so perfectly matched. the way that they can sing in complete unison at… Continue reading music mondays | 8•8
happy august!!! one of the exciting things i get to do this month, besides go back to school (kidding!), is see the dixie chicks perform in dallas. it’s this friday, in fact! i never got to see them in person when they were still performing in the states. this is their first tour in america… Continue reading music mondays | 8•1
all we have is one song off her new album, but i’ll take it. i’ve been a miranda fan from the beginning of her career, her “nashville star” days. i remember watching then and wondering why everyone else didn’t recognize that she was the real star?! does anyone know where buddy jewell is today? hell… Continue reading music mondays | 7•25
